This beautiful center of learning and beauty is home to 50 to 60 different butterfly species of all colors, shapes, and sizes. In addition to housing one of the best butterfly collections in the country, the Key West Butterfly Conservatory is also home to a variety of colorful birds from around the globe. Stay comfortable while walking through climate-controlled habitats filled with flowering plants, lush vegetation, refreshing waterfalls, and the whisper-like sounds of fluttering wings. The Key West Butterfly Conservatory's world-class butterfly collection represents butterflies of all varieties that are native to ecosystems spanning the globe. One species inhabiting the glass enclosure has an 11-in wingspan! As guests stroll this secret garden of wonders, they'll learn about the center's captive breeding program that enables curators to actually release some butterflies into their native habitats to help local ecosystems flourish. The butterflies bred by the Key West Butterfly Conservatory help shrubs, trees, and flowers in ecosystems around the planet to flourish!
